Purple Swamphen

This afternoon I went with Tim
to see the Purple Swamphen at Minsmere RSPB
it was on show as we arrived that's a good start.
Then worked its way to the back of the pool 60-100ft
further back Great to see lovely colours.

Waders
are Sanderling Dunlin Ringer plover Whimbrel Curlew Knot
Bar-tailed Godwit Black-tailed Godwit.
Gulls passing are Little Gull Common Gull Med Gull Black-headed Gull
Lesser black-backed Gull Herring Gull Great Black-backed Gull.
Terns are Sandwich Common Arctic Little.

Fen Orchids with NWT Guilded walk

Great to do a walk with Adam from NWT to see the Fen Orchid
with Grass snake Hobby Marsh Harrier

Great views of the Whiskered Tern here today
and Little Bittern 2 Ruff and Spotted Redshank

Warmed up mid morning
saw my first two Swallowtails then one sat
about twenty feet away about 4 Scarce Chasers
third go I got to see the Osprey that's been catching
fish like pike on the fen.

Patrick found a Bee-Eater last night that went to roost in the trees
by the Paddocks so a Early start as I arrived at 5.20 the bird came to the wire at 5.27am
for over a hour it feed being chased off a few times mostly Jackdaws but a sparrow hawk
tried once.
